I replaced my PowerDVD,Quicktime,Realplayer with this program.Installed fast and easy.Easy to use.Install,double left click on icon,click on \"file\",use popup window to find the movie that you wish to play.For those who seem to have problems,read the manual!

This software is amazing. So far there has not been on file it could not play! Movies, music, DVD's, MP4 it has never let me down. And it is the only media player I can say that about.

this is the second program I install.I believe it helps stop infected downloads. The first thing i load is AVG free

You can get DVD43 from this site to decode the DVDs. Just install, run the program and go ahead and rip any DVD you can find. This Video player will play practically anything and meet most of you Video processing/editing needs as well as streaming and sharing., AWSOME!!!!

This is a pretty good media player. I could not play dvds because the dvd+rw external drive did come with the decoder to play dvds unless i pay extra. your software come in handy. Thanks.

the best media player ive ever had

I've had the VLC media player for about a year now. All I can say is there's nothing like it. Whoever designed this program was on top of their game. Thank You for the outstanding work.

Good in all respect for Audio and Video

So much better than Windows media player or Flash player. This software would be particularly useful on these new tiny PC's which are missing a DVD drive.

I didn't know my netbook didn't come with the system needed to play DVD/CD. This works very well. No stopping when the movie is playing.

the reason i gige it a 5 rating is my windows player wont play any dvds at all its a hellofalot easier toinstall this player and it plays everything no prob.

I tried PowerDVD, Roxio, RealPlayer, Windows Media Player. Only VLC Player has the mpeg-2 decoder for Windows Vista Business. Kudos!!

I tried to download on my Netbook with Windows 7 Starter and it would not download. Any Idea when they will have a version for this OS..?

I tried many other media players and none of them would work with my movie files. Then an uncle of mine recommended VLC. I downloaded it for free and tried some of my other video files that I used to have connected to Quicktime or Windows Media Player. The graphics are awesome compared to the other players. I haven't downloaded any full movies yet but I tried some previews of the ones I started downloading and the graphics are just as good as renting a DVD. I would recommend this program for anyone who is having trouble playing their video files or with bad graphics.

I was instructed to install this program in order to watch a video, and it just plain does not work. When I go to the VLC site to learn what to do, it reads shut down "until things settle down" supposedly because of how busy it is. Maybe a lot of complaints?

It plays all .flv files while RealPlayer program won't decode many of my .flv files. Viewing .flv clips that RealPlayer can not play was main reason for installing VLC Media Player. For my needs it works great.
But it is big and bloated apps.

It's good and it works of first trial. I can recommend it to everyone.

I have tried to use this program on 2 machines (XP) which otherwise work well
and have downloaded it several times over 2 years. BUT when I try to play music it makes CRACKING SOUNDS over the music.
I can't seem to get any help on this. I would like to use it if I can get rid of the noise. Any ideas.

Should come standard, works so well. Sometimes you get more than you pay for.

vlc player is by far one of the best free media players around. I have yet to find any audio or video it will not play.
This download worked without flaws but seems to be an older version that should be able to update from the vlc site videolan or just download it from videolan. The up to date version is much better. Have no idea how some people screw up this download cause it works and it is definatley not infected with malware. Scanned with Avast all clean!

I wanted a program that would play mp4 files. I had no problem downloading VLC, and it worked perfectly! I'm not sure what the other complaints are all about. I don't see a problem with this software at all.

this was a waste of time i spent 30 min downloadin and installin and it still says the same thing WMP says Incompatible Media player. but hey thanx for nuthin

all the codecs that you'll probably ever need...that counts. UI is fine for basic operations, but duplicating playlist files and other commands are too menu-based and not intuitive...but, who cares since it plays everything that I feed it!

Works great. The only player I found that will play VOB type DVD files without conversion.

i had problems with my decoder, and downloaded this one, it worked right away, no problems at all, i would recommend this to anyone, it is real easy, thankyou for having this to download, Texas guy

Ignore my last review. Tried the VLC s'ware again after a close and re-open of the program. Re-inserted the DVD, chose the program instead of Microsoft, went off without a hitch. Kudos for open source!

I downloaded VLC which said it could decode MPEG-2. Purpose: Play "War and Peace," 1956 vintage, but on DVD. I resorted to open source because Microsoft was trying to charge me for the decoder. Now I get a repeated error:
"File reading failed:
VLC could not read the file."
It used to be you popped in a VHS and the thing played. Now we're at the mercy of software providers. To get it to plug and play, you have to pay. To save money, you have to try and find software, waste time. I've been wrestling with computers since 1979 when they were extremely "high maintenance." Now, in 2009, we've gone full circle. Would someone have a hint how I can get this VLC to play this DVD?

So far So good I have not even downloaded the thing yet.

Downloaded in approx 2 minutes. then installed dvd and started player. ran perfectly.

Easy to use,No attached unrelated programs downloaded with program I wanted

downloaded the player, popped in Transformers and had the movie to occupy my kids while I studied. Couldn't have been easier and worked as well as any player I've ever used. Most excellent!

Great little program---Best I have found. After digging around in it the features are amazing. Good job people.

My rating would have been at lease "usable" if I could only download the darned thing. I follow the instructions explicitly but when it says it is downloading it just sits there. After several tries one of which I waited for 1/2 hour I gave up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated otherwise I'll start looking on the internet again for a player that might download and work. If you have an idea and wish to to contact me. The download was easy and it played my 3g2 file like I wanted, however it could not play the audio.

treated very will,plus gave my computer the dvd decoders free.

It has no SloMo reverse/backw.
otherwise it is great.

my needs. I am in need of better understanding of how to get continuous play. I am new at using the computer. I guess I would fit the caterogy of one of those dummies. But I like the simplicity, just don't know

Love it at least i can watch a dvd. But I try to convert and it's confusing. Otherwise its awesome

this is the most utilitarian and comprehensive player I have ever owned and I currently have at least 8- 3 of which I paid for PowerDVD 9 most recent. I can not figure out why I bought that when I have this VLC and one other great freeware player.
If I have one complaint and that is really nothing against the player at all, is that there are so many options for tweaks it can become overwhelming. It can be the easiest thing in the world to use and get great seamless play of straight ISO right from my storeage drive, no need to convert or unwrap for play in all the other players i have. Just go to the bank of saved ISO and pick. It saves me enormously on the dvd discs which go bad if played too often. It is that , if none of the other great features , that got me stuck on this player above all others.

WOW, got it cause alot of my files won't play AVI and cause some of my players will not play anymore. WOW just a great product overall. It even repair damage files. Excellent and free.

the best player in my opinion is vlc because i heard that it can open any program that real or media player can open

plays all kind of media files, so really better performance..

The program is difficult to get used to at first but once I got the hang of it I was amazed at everything it does.

I especially like how it will automatically go full screen with all controls available by right click.

I tried another player but it skipped and pixelized regularly. No such problem here.

Since you have to buy the Ultimate Vista to get DVD play ability, finding this program ended some serious frustration and panic (that my DVD player did not work).

I have no idea how to use it. I thought It would automaticly play the movies I love after I installed it. I wanted to work for Media Player. Can someone explain to me where do I watch the movie if not in Media Player?
